- art and music are great, contributed to a cozy feel
- the combat, while simple, felt satisfying enough, all the stats and effects are nicely thought of
- the storyline felt interesting enough for me to want to keep going
- good flavor text when inspecting world objects
MAJOR ISSUES (imo):
- no ability to heal during combat, or at least i didn't discover one
- character's health got restored to full after dying during combat? the fight was won by the companion but i'd expect the character to either continue at like 5HP or be unconscious and have to be revived somehow
- my equipment and gold disappeared after moving from Region 1 to Cleria, not sure if it's a bug or if it's because the character fell in battle before
- Alaric is no longer a party member in Region 2 even though they're still traveling with you?
- this one is most likely a pure skill issue on my part, but i got reset to the very start of Region 2 after dying to the Earth Golem because i hadn't saved, i expected more checkpoints D:
MINOR NITPICKS:
- sound effects in the main menu cut each other off when playing a new one as another one is still playing
- the selected "text speed" option in the settings menu should be highlighted
- font makes the letters "m" and "w" look a bit confusing, and it isn't the easiest on the eyes in general
- controls are simple enough to be intuited and you do have the instructions written here in the itch.io page, however a quick starting tooltip of "press (x) to (y)" never hurts, as well as a potential addition of a "Controls" menu
- combat screen should have something that highlights which menu icon is chosen, like an arrow or a color difference
- elevation change in the Book of Might room confused me for a bit, the platform itself blends into the surrounding floor coloring a bit too well, it could maybe be the same color as the stairs?
- the movement being tile-based makes it feel a bit clunky, but it was probably the easiest to implement so it's understandable
overall, it's got very nice potential. after a bit of polish, i'm confident that it'll be even more fun ^-^
Hey thank you so much for leaving this reply! These are all good points that I am taking a look at. I am happy to hear you found potential with the game as well.
